8.02 on iPhone 4S

OK, stupid me. After downloading iOS 8.01 on my 4S phone a week or so ago, and experiencing weird problems with it, I saw that 8.02 was available with "bug fixes" so I downloaded that on my phone tonight and the phone screen is frozen on a screen I've never seen before--an iTunes red circle with a picture of the charger pointing towards it.

I can't get the screen to respond to any touch nor can I get any other screen on my iPhone. I've rebooted a half dozen times.

Anyone have any suggestion? I really, really, really don't want to spend half a day in an Apple store getting this fixed.
